High School Youth Group

The high school youth group at Third Church meets every Wednesday evening.

Snowblast 2004One recent highlight was our winter retreat to Manning Park in Canada. Snowblast 2004 took place on the weekend of January 16-17. Friday afternoon we met at the church parking lot and then traveled to a lodge in Sunshine Valley, B.C. Sunshine Valley is about 1/2 hour east of Hope, B.C. On both Friday and Saturday evening, Ben DeRegt from Sonlight Church, spoke to the group on what it means to S.O.A.R. in our Christian walk. S.O.A.R. is an acronym for "Sold Out And Radical." On Saturday we spent the day skiing, sledding and snowboarding in Manning Park. On Sunday morning we slept in, had breakfast, a time of worship and reflection, and then packed up and headed back to Lynden. The weekend went well and hopefully encouraged students to "Soar" in their walk with Christ.

Snowblast 2004There are a few upcoming events that can be kept in prayer, as well. The first is Spring Retreat. This year's Spring Retreat will be held the weekend of March 26-29 Snowblast 20042004 at Cornet Bay E.L.C. near Deception Pass. This is always a great weekend. I would encourage people to pray for the leadership of this retreat as they continue to plan and prepare for the weekend for students from all over western Washington.

The second date to remember is the Memorial Day weekend trip over to Flying H Boys Ranch in Eastern Washington. Memorial Day weekend is May 28-31, 2004. Anyone who has gone in the past will tell you that this is a great weekend!

I would also like to mention our Mexico Missions trip this summer. This year we are traveling to Ensenada, Mexico, which is about 11/2 hours south of Tijuana/San Diego. I am excited about this trip! Many parts of the trip will be similar to last year's trip, but there will be some differences, as well. This year, the training and the outreach phase will take place in Ensenada, so we will be at the same base all 10 days. Last year, the training phase was done at the Y.W.A.M. base in Burbank, California. We will be building a home again this year and we will also be doing some open air evangelism. We also are hoping to spend some time in an orphanage while in Ensenada. Please keep this trip in your prayers as the preparations are already taking place. Also, we have been and will be doing some fund‑raising for the cost of the trip, but the cost of the house ($2,700) is not figured into the cost per person. Sop if you would like to give specifically for the house, please contact Eric at church. There has been many lives changed by these trips in the past and we are again praying that we can be the hands and feet of Christ as we travel to Mexico again this summer.
